In the case of an attack on a synagogue in Caracas police detained.

On suspicion of attacking a synagogue in Caracas detained 11 people, including 7 police officers, the Associated Press on Sunday, with reference to the statement by the Prosecutor General of Venezuela. Among the detainees was one of the guards and synagogues.

Anticipated that formal charges would be detained on Monday, told the representatives of the Prosecutor General, while refusing to specify any details. Representatives of Venezuela's Jewish community, numbering about 15 thousand people, expressed gratitude to the authorities for promptly conducted an investigation of crime.

An attack on a synagogue in the frame was carried out 30 January 2009. 15 people stormed the building of the synagogue, where the two guards on duty, ransacked and attacked anti-Semitic slogans on the walls.
Then the leaders of the Jewish community of Venezuela said that the attack on the synagogue may have been caused by criticism of President Hugo Chavez to the authorities of Israel made them during an operation in the Gaza Strip. Chavez, in turn, claimed that the attack on the synagogue could organize themselves representatives of the Jewish community to discredit his Government.
