The day before the match of Davis Cup tennis teams between Sweden and Israel in the city of Malmo was thousands of anti-Israel rally. Participants in the mass demonstrations protesting the Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, completed an additional 2 months ago.
According to AFP, in the protest was attended by about 7 thousand people. They chanted anti-Israeli slogans and demanded to cancel a tennis match. Note that because of the rallies, it was decided to hold the matches between the Swedish and Israeli tennis players not spectators - to watch the progress of competition in the stands will only representatives of the press and a small number of specially invited guests.
Despite the promises of the organizers of that meeting will be held in a peaceful manner, members of radical anti-fascist movement, participating in the action, staged a brawl with police. Anti threw stones at the police barricades and petards. They were, according to preliminary data, the 5 participants in the rally.
Note that in Europe anti-Israeli protests gradually passed away in January 2009 after the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
