Mauricio Funes won the presidential elections in El Salvador.

Nominee leftist Mauricio Funes (Mauricio Funes) announced its victory in the presidential elections in El Salvador, reported AFP.
As a result of the counting of more than 90 percent of the ballots, Funes 51.2 percent of voters supported. His opponent - a representative of the ruling right-wing Rodrigo Avila (Rodrigo Avila) - won 48.7 percent of votes.
Funes himself called his election "a victory for all the people of El Salvador." Mauricio Funes, nominated for the election of the National Liberation Front Farabundo Marti, was the first president in the country - representative of leftist forces in the past 20 years.
A candidate for the National Republican Alliance Rodrigo Avila has already admitted defeat. During the election campaign, he claimed that the victory of left in the presidential elections will lead to a deterioration of relations between El Salvador and the United States and transform the country into satellite Venezuela.
Prior to the elections, the representative of the U.S. Department of State Tom Shannon said that the United States recognize any choice of the people of El Salvador.
According to the four thousand local and international observers, serious violations of the election was not observed.
In January 2009, National Liberation Front Farabundo Marti defeated in parliamentary elections. Nevertheless, the right-wing parties were able to organize a coalition that has the majority vote in Parliament.
