NATO formally resumed relations with Russia.

Ministers for Foreign Affairs - member of NATO officially announced that the Alliance renews relations with Russia, suspended after the war in South Ossetia, which took place in August 2008. That was reported by BBC News. Preliminary agreement on this was reached on 4 March.
U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton called the resumption of contacts, "the opportunity to start everything from scratch." She noted that the number of territories, the security interest of both NATO and Russia, is Afghanistan. Earlier, on March 4, Clinton invited Russia to cooperate on missile defense, deployment of which, according to the States, must be protected from the threat from Iran.
Secretary of State, but added that Ukraine and Georgia should retain the possibility of joining NATO.
British Foreign Secretary David Milibend said that the resumption of contacts makes it possible to cooperate with Russia "on reasonable grounds", but noted that "the invasion of Georgia and the violation of its sovereignty" will not be able to hide under the carpet. "
NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said that among the common interests of the North Atlantic Alliance and Russia, in addition to Afghanistan, in the fight against terrorism and nonproliferation of nuclear weapons. At the resumption of France and Germany insisted, believing that the cessation of contact was counterproductive.
The representative of Russia to NATO Dmitry Rogozin earlier predicted results of the Brussels talks, but said that Moscow is now in contact with the Alliance on its own terms.
