Taiwan was allowed to build casinos.

Taiwan lifted the ban on the construction of a casino in the country, acting for several decades, reported AFP. Under the new law, on each island of the unrecognized state will build no more than two gaming zones.
Taiwan's parliament approved a bill in January. According to him, the casino may be opened only if it would agree to a referendum by the inhabitants of the islands.
Firms that are granted the right to build a casino, will also have to build a hotel in the gaming area of not less than 1 thousand people.
A third casino on each island may be built no earlier than 10 years after the opening of a second. This decision was taken to avoid competition and to minimize the possible social consequences.
According to the AFP, the adoption of the law was accompanied by numerous protests of religious and environmental groups. They fear that opening the casino will contribute to the spread of crime and harm public morality.
