U.S. refused to attend the UN Conference on Racism.

United States decided not to participate in the UN Conference on Racism to be held 20-24 April in Geneva. This Agence France-Presse reported sources in the U.S. Department of State.
The decision to refuse to participate in UN conferences, it was as a result of the preliminary talks held in Geneva on 16 February. As explained companion agency, the U.S. side do not like this at the talks a draft resolution on racial issues, so it was decided not to participate in the conference.
At the last conference held in 2001 in South Africa, a scandal provoked by delegates from Arab countries who have put forward a resolution equated Zionism with racism. Then, a delegation from the U.S. and Israel defiantly left the conference, recalled AFP.
At this time, said agency delegation, the administration aimed at Barack Obama talks, was ready to take a similar draft resolution, but on condition that it will make some changes, however, as a result of negotiations, the changes made in the paper were still worse, and that influenced the decision of the American delegates.
