The Government of Guinea-Bissau has announced a seven-day national mourning for the deceased President João Bernardo Vieira (Joao Bernardo Vieira), AFP reported on Monday, 2 March.
Also, the Government established a commission to investigate murder of Chief of Staff of Tagme At Vaye (Tagme Na Waie), which occurred as a result of a bomb explosion in front of General Staff of the evening of Sunday, March 1. The president was shot by the military a few hours later at his residence. Previously, it was reported that the military shot and killed him, thus avenged the death of Tagme At Vaye. Chief of General Staff and the president are political opponents.
On Monday, March 2, Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau, Carlos Gomes Junior held an urgent meeting, which was set up crisis headquarters to resolve the situation. Also it was stated that the country's military coup does not occur, and everything remains in the constitution.
